Rewire
If
your electrical system has any of the following features, your
home no longer complies with current wiring regulations and is
potentially putting you at risk from electric shock or fire. You
may need a rewire.
- Fuseboxes - with wooden backs, cast iron switches
or a haphazard mixture of circuit boxes
- Damaged - Cables, Switches, Sockets and other
Accessories
- Cables coated in black rubber (TRS) installed
1945 - 1966
- Lead or fabric sheathed cables installed pre 1948
- Older round-pin sockets
- Braded Flexes - from ceiling roses to light fittings
- Black Round Bakerlite Switches
- Sockets mounted on skirting boards
- PVC lighting cables installed before 1966
- Double pole fusing - pre 1950's circuits had
a fuse in both the live and neutral.
- Mains water pipe being used as an earthing conductor
- Rewirable Fuses - Modern installations have mini
circuit breakers
Orme Electrical will
advise whether you require just a few minor alterations or a complete
rewire to meet current saftey regulations |
